Rangers Make Bid For Juventus Striker Kovcevic
GLASGOW (May 8, 2000 11:53 a.m. EDT http://www.sportserver.com) - Scottish champions the Rangers confirmed Monday that they have made an offer to Juventus for striker Darko Kovacevic
A fee of around 10 million pounds ($15.31 million) for the Yugoslav international, who has failed to feature regularly for Juventus in Serie A but was a success in their UEFA Cup run, has been reported by newspapers in Scotland.
Rangers chairman David Murray was quoted in the Daily Record as saying: "We have made an offer to Juventus for the player but at the moment we can say no more than that until we hear something further from Italy."
Kovacevic, who has played 35 times for Yugoslavia, joined Juventus last northern summer from Real Sociedad and has scored six times in 24 league appearances, 21 of them as substitute.
However, he netted 11 goals in 14 games in the InterToto and UEFA Cups and may interested in returning to Britain, where he previously played for English premier league club Sheffield Wednesday.
