Lazio Closes Within Two Points of League-Leader Juventus

ROME (AP) -- Italy's Serie A title fight is back on.

Simone Inzaghi's goal and assist lifted Lazio to a 3-2 win Sunday over Venezia and moved the Rome club within two points of league-leader Juventus, which stumbled badly against Verona.

The Turin club had a chance to close in on its record 26th league title, but lost 2-0 on a pair of goals from Verona forward Fabrizio Cammarata.

With two games to go, Juventus (20-8-4) remains at 68 points, with a tough match next week against Parma.

The Rome club opened the scoring against Verona, as Argentine midfielder Diego Simeone met Inzaghi's cross in the 38th minute with a diving header.

Venezia's Filippo Maniero put a goal in his own net in the 90th minute to provide Lazio with its third goal. Maurizio Ganz scored Venezia's final goal in the last minute of injury time.

Massimo Ambrosini's goal in he 14th minute lifted AC Milan (15-12-5) to a 1-0 win over last-place Piacenza, moving the northern squad into third place with a solid shot at a Champions League slot next year.

Managing just a scoreless draw against Udinese, Parma (15-10-7) slipped into a fourth-place tie with Internazionale.
