04/16/2000. Thanks to Darko Kovacevic's second half two-goal effort, Juventus were able to defeat Inter and extend their lead over second placed Lazio to five points.

Inter had the best chances throughout the first half, even though the opportunities came off long range attempts by their midfielders Luigi DI Biagio and Benoit Cauet. In both instances the drives were on target, but Juve keeper Edwin Van der Sar was able to deny both efforts with two fantastic saves.

Juventus took the lead in the 54th minute when Darko Kovacevic sent an Inzaghi invitation past Inter keeper Peruzzi and into the back of the net. Inter were able to even the score sixteen minutes later through Clarence Seedorf, but the referee disallowed the winner because of an offside position of the Dutch international.

Just one minute after this episode Kovacevic drove home his second of the night by heading home a cross that appeared destined for Peruzzi's hands. However Inter did not get buried under the Yugoslav international's pair as they went on an all out offensive, possibly in honor of Ronaldo, who the team promised they would dedicate the victory to.

A slightly deflected Seedorf strike allowed Inter to come within a goal of Juve in the 83rd minute, however the comeback was nullified by a fantastic Juve defense which denied Inter any chance to equalize the game.
