LONDON (March 7, 2000 11:32 a.m. EST http://www.sportserver.com) - Italian league leaders Juventus moved past Bayern Munich into second place in the Reuters European club rankings this week after victories in Serie A and Europe.
Juventus beat Celta Vigo 1-0 last week in the UEFA Cup and followed with a 2-0 league win over Bari on Sunday. Bayern, despite a brilliant 4-2 away win over Real Madrid in the
Champions League, slipped to a rare 2-0 defeat to VfB Stuttgart in the Bundesliga.
Lazio, though second to Juventus in Serie A, stayed top of the rankings thanks to a 1-0 away win in Lecce.
The Roman club owe their place to their excellent Champions League form, though their chance of beating Ajax Amsterdam's all-time record of 19 unbeaten matches in Europe was ended on 18 by Feyenoord last week.
