TURIN, Italy, March 2 (Reuters) - Yugoslav Darko Kovacevic gave Juventus a 1-0 first leg advantage over Spain's Celta Vigo with a 49th-minute header in their UEFA Cup fourth round match on Thursday.
Kovacevic rose well to head in a free-kick from Alessandro Del Piero just four minutes after Del Piero had been introduced as a halftime substitute. Celta had come closest to opening the scoring in the first half, with Michael Revivo having two good shots well saved by Juventus goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar.
The nearest Celta came to an equaliser was in the 78th minute when Alexander Mostovoi's free-kick struck the post. Kovacevic, who rarely starts in Serie A, has now scored 10
goals in seven games in the UEFA Cup.
