A after a Filippo Inzaghi goal in the 47th minute gave them a
1-0 win at home to Verona on Thursday.
The Turin club are now a point clear of Lazio, who lost 2-0
to Venezia on Wednesday, but the race for the title remains
close with all the top clubs picking up maximium points.
Sixth-placed Inter Milan made an impressive start to the
year by hammering Perugia 5-0, with Dutch international Clarence
Seedorf scoring on his debut.
Vincenzo Montella claimed a hat-trick as fourth-placed AS
Roma defeated Bari 3-1 in Rome, while a 54th minute strike from
Marco Di Vaio strike gave Parma a 1-0 win at Udinese to keep
them in third place.
Title holders AC Milan won 1-0 at Piacenza despite having
midfielder Demetrio Albertini sent off in the 29th minute.
Oliver Bierhoff scored the only goal of the game in the 31st
minute.
