ten thingsten things

Daniel Fonseca
Daniel Fonseca is a natural born goalscorer. He started his professional career with Nacional in Uruguay before moving to Italy to sign for Cagliari at the tender age of 21. His time in Serie A then saw him play for Napoli and Roma before arriving at Juventus in July 1997.
Fonseca has been plagued by a knee injury for the entire duration of the season. Even before a ball had been kicked he found himself having to listen to the advice of specialists. After playing just two matches on his brief return, his season was declared over on 4 March when he went under the surgeons knife yet again. Now he hopes to be fit for the start of next season.
Fonseca is regarded as a bit of a snappy dresser. His appearance is always immaculate; he prefers the classic look, but can do sporty too.
He is married to Lisa, whom he met while playing for Napoli. They have a son called Nicholas. Daniels father is called Manuel and works as a builder. His mother is Maria.
His hobbies include listening to all types of music, especially salsa. He also likes tennis, and plays a bit too.
He is a happy-go-lucky kind of guy. At times shy, Fonseca is also renowned as a practical joker. He finds plenty of victims - especially among his team-mates. He loves company and is often seen out with friends.
Daniel dislikes the high life. He prefers either to have friends over or spend an evening in a local bar.
His heroes hail from the world of sport. They have included Enzo Francescoli (also Uruguayan and an ex-Torino player), Diego Maradona and Michael Jordan.
In his early days he owed a great deal to his grandfather Rogelio, the first man to spot his talent. The job of nurturing that talent then fell to his first coach at Nacional, Carol.
His best ever goal came in a match against Sampdoria in 1990, while playing for Cagliari. A spectacular bicycle kick from outside the penalty area, it was the second of two goals he scored that day as Cagliari fought back from behind.
