A delightful overhead kick by forward Luca Toni gave Vicenza an away draw at Bologna. Bologna took the lead with a fine strike by Argentine forward Julio Cruz in the 33rd minute. But Toni's "goal of the week" effort six minutes later earned Vicenza a point.

Juventus: David Trezeguet 7', Zinedine Zidane 10'

Juventus made a dream start with goals from French international team-mates David Trezeguet and Zinedine Zidane inside the first 10 minutes. But Inter, stung by their 6-1 defeat at Parma in the Italian Cup in midweek, hit back through Laurent Blanc and Luigi Di Biagio to salvage a draw wich will ease the pressure on coach Marco Tardelli. Enrico Chiesa's penalty in the 54th minute secured Fiorentina a draw at Lecce. Defender Alessandro Conticchio gave Lecce the lead after 11 minutes with a right foot strike from the edge of the penalty area. Nine minutes after the interval Lecce defender De Souza Juarez held Chiesa in the box and the Fiorentina player converted his spot kick to earn the visitors their fifth draw of the season.

Napoli 1 - Bari 0
Napoli: Nicola Amoruso 45'

Attendance: 40,000 Forward Nicola Amoruso scored on the stroke of halftime and Napoli held on to win against Bari. It was Napoli's first victory of the season and it came in front of 40,000 fans at the San Paolo stadium. Bari are now second from bottom with five points, one more than Reggina.

Perugia 0 - AS Roma 0

AS Roma were held to their first draw of the season by mid-table Perugia at a sold-out Renato Curi stadium. Roma attacked for most of the match and came close several times through Gabriel Batistuta and Marco Delvecchio. Perugia's pressing midfield and man-to-man marking made it difficult for the Roma forwards to get their shots on target and enabled Serse Cosmi's side to pick up a deserved draw.

Udinese 0 - AC Milan 1
AC Milan: Andriy Shevchenko 51'

Andriy Shevchenko's eighth league goal of the season gave AC Milan a hard-earned win at Udinese. Shevchenko was quick to pounce on a Paolo Maldini cross six minutes into the second half and sweep the ball into the net. Udinese have now lost two games in a row while AC Milan, with 10 points from four matches, continue their steady climb up the table after a slow start.

Verona 2 - Brescia 1
Verona: Emiliano Bonazzoli 5', Alberto Gilardino 83'
Brescia: Dario Hubner 90'
Halftime: 1-0
Attendance: 13,863

Ex-Brescia striker Emiliano Bonazzoli scored against his former side in the fifth minute and youngster Alberto Gilardino added a late second to clinch victory for Verona. Dario Hubner gave Brescia hope when he scored from inside the box in the final minute and the visitors almost equalised when Francesco Marino hit the post in injury time.

An unmarked Marcelo Salas opened the scoring in the 25th minute and Hernan Crespo added a second goal early in the second half to give Lazio a much-needed victory over Reggina. With the win, Lazio move closer to the top of the table as they attempt to keep pace with league leaders and crosstown rivals AS Roma. Reggina have now lost eight consecutive matches and are in last place in Serie A.

Parma 2 - Atalanta 0
Parma: Sabri Lamouchi 19', Sergio Conceicao 83'

Attendance: 19,000

French midfielder Sabri Lamouchi scored in the 19th minute and team-mate Sergio Conceicao buried a beautiful left-foot strike seven minutes from time to give Parma the win and hand Atalanta their first defeat of the season. After a slow start to the campaign Parma have now won six of their last seven matches. Atalanta manager Giovanni Vavassori said: "We all knew that we were going to lose sooner or later. At least we lost to a great team".
