Lazio went ahead after just three minutes when Sinisa Mihajlovic fired in a free-kick from wide on the right which beat ill-positioned Atalanta 'keeper Alberto Fontana. But Atalanta drew level in the 21st minute when Lazio defender Giuseppe Pancaro headed a corner into his own net. Lazio went behind in the 58th minute when Cristian Zanoni ran through a gaping hole in the Lazio defence and coolly slotted home.
But Lazio substitute Simone Inzaghi earned his side a point when he pounced on a loose ball in the 73rd minute after Pavel Nedved's shot was parried by Fontana.
AC Milan 2 - Vicenza 0

A confident start from Milan with German Oliver Bierhoff opening the scoring as he rose to head home a cross from Gennaro Gattuso. Vicenza looked dangerous on the break but Ukrainian Andriy Shevchenko, last season's top scorer in Serie A, completed the win with a fine header from a deep Federico Giunti cross.
Parma 2 - Fiorentina 2

Fiorentina: Alessandro Pierini 65', Christian Amoroso 82'

Parma took the lead in the fifth minute with a powerful Marcio Amoroso header but Fiorentina fought back well with a 65th minute header from Alessandro Pierini. Cristian Amoroso looked to have given them a winner with an 82nd minute goal after good work from Nuno Gomes. But Parma drew level with a last-minute penalty from Marcio Amoroso, after Fiorentina defender Tomas Repka pulled down Emiliano Bonazzoli. Repka was sent off for the offence.
Perugia 1 - Lecce 1

A superb 20 metre strike from Croatian forward Davor Vugrinec gave Lecce a perfect start after 24 minutes. Perugia claimed a point after a Marco Materazzi converted a 73rd minute penalty after a foul by Matteo Pivotto, which saw the Lecce defender dismissed.
Reggina 2 - Inter Milan 1

Inter Milan: Alvaro Recoba 10'

Alvaro Recoba gave Inter the lead in the 10th minute after being well-set up by Hakan Sukur. But Reggina drew level on the stroke of half-time when Davide Possanzini took advantage of some hesitant defending. The winner came five minutes after the restart when Massimo Marazzina blasted home a left-foot shot after some neat build-up play.
AS Roma 2 - Bologna 0
AS Roma: Francesco Totti 45', Marcello Castellini 62'

Italy international Francesco Totti put Roma ahead with a 27th minute header after a fine cross from Marcos Assuncao. A 67th minute own goal by Bologna defender Marcello Castellini secured the three points for Fabio Capello's side.
Udinese 4 - Brescia 2

On a barely playable waterlogged pitch, Udinese took the lead in the second minute through Roberto Sosa and doubled their advantage in the 58th minute through Iaquinta. Brescia fought back in the 64th minute when an Udinese clearance ricocheted into the net off Pierpaolo Bisoli and in the 80th minute full-back Aimo Diana pulled Brescia level. But a minute later Mohammed Gargo restored Udinese's lead with a thundering header and with six minutes to go Roberto Muzzi danced through the Brescia defence, and three puddles, to grab the fourth.

Bari took the lead nine minutes from time when Swede Yksel Osmanovski was pulled down inside the penalty area and his compatriot Daniel Andersson converted the spot kick. But Verona grabbed an equaliser three minutes from the end when defender Natale Gonnella volleyed home a corner for his first ever goal in Serie A.
Napoli 1 - Juventus 2

Napoli took a deserved lead in the 41st minute when defender Ciro Ferrara gave the ball away, Napoli winger David Sesa burst down the right flank and Roberto Stellone slotted home his low cross. Two minutes after coming on as a substitute, Yugoslav Darko Kovecevic brought Juventus level in the 67th minute with a header from a Zinedine Zidane cross.
