Great show of character from Juventus after the draw at home against Roma. Zidane and Tudor scoring twice in only five minutes (in the 23rd minute and the 28th), Rossi scored for Fiorentina in 40th minute. The second half lacked the emotion of the first half and Juve closed the account in the 44th minute through Trezeguet. A well balanced first few minutes with Fiorentina going close with Leandra. Birindelli did well to read the situation as did Van der Sar who came out quickly to save from Chiesa. In fact it was Chiesa again who went close when his shot went just over the bar. Zidane was beginning to come more and more into the game and in the 21st minute went very close with a free kick. Zizou was in great form, and it was he who put Juventus in front after Birindelli had crossed to Trezeguet and he layed it onto his fellow countryman to slot the ball home.
Juventus were now beginning to take the game to Fiorentina and it was no surprise when they scored again. This time through Tudor, but again it was Zidane who was involved in the move crossing perfectly for the head of the Croat. His fifth goal of the season.
Fiorentina looked to pull a goal back and finally did so in the 40th minute. Rossi taking advantage of a slip by the Juventus defence. Juventus led by Zidane still went forward and an O�Neill free kick wasn�t far off the target.
SECOND HALF
At the beginning of the second half the teams came out unchanged but soon Mancini brought on Amaral for the injured Cois and then a tactical change when he brought on Nuno Gomes for Vanoli. After 20 minutes nothing had really happened then Amoroso tested Van der Sar. Ancelotti took off Inzaghi and Birindelli bringing on Del Piero and Athirson, with Paramatti moving onto the right. Juventus then had two chances in successive minutes: the first chance from a ball from Del Piero for Zidane, but Toldo saved well and when the Fiorentina keeper was forced to pull off a tremendous save from Trezeguet.
Adani went wide with a header after some fine play from Fiorentina. In the 42nd minute Zidane went off to be replaced by Brighi. The game was all over when, after an O�Neil free kick, Trezeguet headed home to put Juventus 3-1 in front.
