Belgian goalkeeper Jean-Francois Gillet saved two penalties but his side still lost to remain bottom. Newly signed Albanian Igly Tare scored his first Serie A goal for Brescia before defender Rachid Neqrouz equalised for Bari with his opening goal of the season. Veteran striker Dario Hubner added two breakaway goals to seal Brescia's win. Bari played virtually the entire match with 10 men after Giuseppe Mazzarelli was sent off for a last-man foul.

Inter's second away win of the season. Christian Vieri's fourth goal of the campaign gave them the lead before Luigi Di Biagio scored a beautiful diving header. Vladimir Jugovic's perfectly-placed chip a minute later rounded out the scoring and handed Bologna their sixth loss.

Lazio 3 - Lecce 2

Lecce: Alessandro Conticchio 52', Cristiano, Lucarelli 75' (penalty)

Lazio's fourth consecutive match under Dino Zoff. Hernan Crespo opened the scoring with a blast from inside the box. Lecce equalised through Alessandro Conticchio before Crespo struck his second. Lazio's Juan Veron slotted home 10 minutes later and a Cristiano Lucarelli penalty late in the game rounded out the scoring. Crespo has now scored seven goals in his last four matches. Lazio joined Juventus in second place on 33 points.

AC Milan scored at the San Siro stadium for the 44th consecutive league match, equalling a club record from the 1950s. Brazilian midfielder Leonardo broke the deadlock with a well-taken strike in the 79th minute. Reggina remained second from bottom.

Fabio Pecchia capitalised on a rare mistake by Fiorentina's Italy goalkeeper Francesco Toldo to score Napoli's last minute winner wich lifted them out of the relegation zone.

Leaders AS Roma won their sixth away match of the season. Gabriel Batistuta scored both goals, giving him 13 for the season, equal with AC Milan's Andriy Shevchenko. A breakaway goal by Marco Di Vaio gave Parma the lead but a fine ball by AS Roma defender Walter Samuel found Batistuta in space to slot home a volley for the equaliser. Batistuta scored the winner seven minutes from time from an Aldair cross.

Vicenza 1 - Udinese 2

Udinese: Martin Jorgensen 13', Massimo Margiotta 90'

Udinese's third away win of the season. Martin Joergensen gave the visitors an early lead. Luca Toni scored from the penalty spot just before halftime for Vicenza. In injury time, Udinese's Massimo Margiotta slotted home a Stefano Fiore cross for the winner.

Juventus lost their first away match of the year and saw their 12-game unbeaten run ended. Atalanta defender Massimo aganin's own goal gave them the lead but Atalanta equalised with a header from substitute Stefano Lorenzi. Surprise package Perugia won their seventh match of the season. Captain Marco Materazzi gave the Umbrian side their victory with a well-placed header in the 64th minute. Verona's defeat was their sixth away this season.
