An exciting match saw Atalanta break out of a scoreless slump with four goals. Striker Nicola Ventola and midfielder Domenico Morfeo hit two goals each as Atalanta managed to score for the first time in four matches. Defender Andrea Sottil headered home in the 35th minute and Mohammed Gargo added a second in the 76th minute for the home side. Udinese have yet to draw at home this season, losing four of nine league matches.

Forward Oliver Bierhoff gave AC Milan the lead with his fifth goal of the season in the 26th minute. Brescia's Dario Hubner took advantage of a poor back pass from Milan defender Paolo Maldini two minutes into the second half to rifle home his eighth goal of the season.

Pavel Nedved opened the scoring with a beautifully-taken volley from the edge of the box midway through the first half. Argentine striker Hernan Crespo dribbled past the Fiorentina defence twice to score his eighth and ninth goals of the season in the second half. Fiorentina's Enrico Chiesa scored from the penalty spot in the 82nd minute but Marcelo Salas added a fourth for Lazio three minutes later to round out the scoring.

Christian Vieri scored his third goal of the season, slotting home a deflected shot from team mate Alvaro Recoba. Bottom club Bari lost their 10th match of the season. Inter Milan won for the first time in five league matches, moving them out of the relegation zone.

Striker Marco Delvecchio opened the scoring with a header in the 21st minute. Captain Francesco Totti scored his 10th goal of the season and Gabriel Batistuta added his 11th of the campaign five minutes from time. Top-of-the-table Roma stay three points ahead of second-placed Juventus.

Arrigo Sacchi won for the first time in three matches as Parma manager. Forward Marco Di Vaio scored twice, giving Parma a much-deserved away win. Adrian Mutu missed a penalty late in the match for Verona.
