One of the things that links nearly every single one of the duelists is, like Mikage, they
all have "precious memories" to protect. Be it Utena's Prince or Miki's Sunlit Garden,
all of the duelists want to "change the future according to their memories" - they want
their lives to be as they were.
Of course this is impossible. The chick cannot go back into the egg. Even Akio wants to go
back into his egg - he wishes to aquire the power that he had as a prince.
So, though Mikage (or practically any other character in Utena) used to be their
class rep, they're still living in their memories of being class rep, and are totally
messing up the present, in desiring to return to the past.
