Ah, the Shadow Girls are first introduced in all their bizarre glory. In case you're
wondering, the one with the bow is A-ko,the one with the buns on either side of her head
(weird dotty buns...) is B-ko, and later C-ko has a ponytail. In the Student Council Arc,
A-ko and B-ko perform, and in the Black Rose Arc, it's C-ko alone.
In the Akio arc, A-ko and B-ko appear again, then all three do the Apocolypse Arc.

This episode starts off the Utena saga. It warns that the duel is not just a petty
competition between students - and that Utena is only dueling for Wakaba's sake. Of course,
it also has to be pointed out how "meddlesome" that Utena is being at this point - Saionji's
treatment of Anthy or anything else having to do with the Student Council is clearly none
of her business, but Utena's status as a self-appointed "prince" makes it her duty to butt
her head in.
