Good Grief Oh Crikey!
Angus P. Allan
22nd July 1936 - 16th July 2007
(Look-in Scriptwriter 1971 - 1985)

Alan Fennell found a real gem in Angus, a veritable conveyor belt of imagination.  How he did it is anybody's guess, but I think it probably came easy to him because, quite simply he loved the job he did.  He obviously loved that people still remembered and enjoyed what he did after all these years, he always had time for his fans.  There are a few articles about him on the net, most with contributions from the man himself, and I was lucky enough to spot his name in my inbox, not so long ago.  I still remember that morning vividly, that someone from the comic I loved as a youngster had wrote to me, and of all the people it could have been, I'm so glad it was him.  I took him up on his offer of some background information, and got another quite lengthy reply, you can read what he said here.  It is still one of my most cherished memories, and even more special now.

The title by the way, is the same as an award he received for writing the 'Danger Mouse' strip, he loved DM and the award was one of his most prized possessions.  All we have left now are the memories, and hopefully Look-out and other sites can keep us all reminded of the huge debt we owe to Angus.....

Yours aye RIP

That wasn't exactly what I thought when I heard about Angus' death, but I'm sure he'd have loved the title.  From what I've read about him he had quite a sense of humour, which obviously helped
with his writing, but he could also write some quite gripping action too, when he wasn't going over the top with giant ants, and rampaging robot gorillas...!!!, but I digress...
