Keywords

convex - A convex polygon or polyhedron contains no holes or indentions. If one constructs a line segment between any two points of a convex object, then every point on the line segment is part of the object. Go to George W. Hart's Virtual Polyhedra page for more information.

embedded polyhedra - Polyhedra that can be represented in 3-dimensional space without self-intersections.

polyhedral surface - The union of a finite collection of 2-dimensional triangles in E3, and the collection of triangles is called a triangulation of that surface.

rigid framework - A framework is called rigid if any continuous motion of the verticies that keeps the length of every rod fixed also keeps fixed the distance between every pair of verticies in the framework.

rigidity conjecture - Any triangulation of a polyhedral surface in E3 is rigid, which is false.
