Beijing-Toronto Hotel (Jing-lun)

These aren't the present interiors of the hotel sitting in the heart of Beijing, China. Most sections of the foyer, and the lobby, have been refurbished by interior design firm, Paul Leese Designers HK Ltd. During the start of my professional career, I had the opportunity of looking at the old plans and the new layout as well of this hotel. Anyway, before they ended up in 3-D images, they were drafted on several mediums and occasions. First, it started by hand then I drafted the whole thing in AutoCAD, then extruded and applied with materials via 3-D Studio in DOS mode. However, a great deal of the mapped materials were damaged (due to an unfortunate fatal error) but luckily the 3DS file was salvaged. Anyway, I've been intending to restructure the whole model file with a new set of material bitmaps (which may not be the same as before). The interior layout though will not be as the same in terms with the hotel's present conditions. Most likely this 3-D file will be based on the drawings, sketches, memory, and speculation.

The images shown is the present condition of the existing file that I've made sometime ago. As metioned, since there was a great deal of loss on the maps, the model is not complete, but still worth checking out as well. This would be handy for people studying architecture and interior with regards to the use of 3-D programs. Since any maps can be applied onto the surfaces of the model, all walls, floors, ceilings, etc. can bear finishes of either timber, stone, metal, or carpet fabrics.
