Heavy Gauge by GLAY

This summer, GLAY had a concert with 200, 000 exciting fans. Now that summer is over, autumn comes with GLAY's newest album - Heavy Gauge.

Hisashi: During the recording of this new album, I still feel the excitement that I got from our summer concert. I also realized that my style of performing has change into something different.
Teru: After the concert, I know what I wanted to do next. The summer concert gave me much encouragement for my next project.
Takuro: There is a time when I couldn't return to the real world. This made me think of the 1st time when I perform in a concert. After I put all my efforts in that concert, I didn't know what else to do when the event was over. And this time, I've done what I've originally planned to do. But, when people asked me what I'd be doing next, I didn't know what to say except that it won't just end like that.

The new album contains several songs that are well known to GLAY's listeners. Among these songs are "Survival", " Be with You" and "Winter Again". All the previously released songs are in re-mixed version except the song "Survival".

The new album has a different style to other GLAY's releases thanks to Hisashi and his talented skill in playing guitar. Electronic devices are also used in making the songs sound extraordinary. There are also other instruments that are used including pianos, female vocalists and various devices that are used to manipulate the sound. This album seems to be GLAY's first attempt to sound serious.

Takuro: This year, for the first time in my life,I have witnessed a riot. Standing so close to the movement,I realized that there are many tragic situations in life. I was affected greatly by this incident asI'm feeling desperate and confused. And when I close my eyes, what I see is " Heavy Gauge".
Teru: Previously, I just sing whatever songs that are given to me without much consideration. But now, I must fully comprehend what I'm singing, no matter how long it takes.

GLAY's "Heavy Gauge" is made under the chaotic environment with the addition of violent rock, confused guitars and the soft melody of piano and vocals.

Hisashi: Previously, the main element of our song is guitar. But this time we've made some changes. Now you can hear all four of our voices.
Takuro: Previously, we can easily predict how our fans would react to our songs. But this album just overwhelms the four of us. We truly have no clue as to how our fans would react to this new album.

Q: If it's not here. then where would it be?
A: It must be within "Heavy Gauge."
