Josh Yokela's Bio

I was born and raised in California. I was disheartened by the tax and overall government in California, so I made up my mind to never live in another state with income tax. I moved to Nevada in 2003 and graduated from high school in 2004. Nevada was not quite free enough and didn't have all the opportunities I wanted, so I moved to Seattle in 2009 hoping for better politics. I came to find out that Seattle was moving to more controls and government interference in everyday life, so I left Seattle and moved to New Hampshire in 2015. I was encouraged by the atmosphere and felt I could really call New Hampshire home. I bought my first house in Fremont and after about a year found out that I had an interest in trying protect freedom and individual rights. I joined the Zoning Board of Adjustments as an alternate member with the hopes of trying to not only look at the rule in zoning, but keep in mind how that rule might protect each parties rights. I came to find out that some of those rules seemed to not be protecting rights, but instead seemed to be managing peoples actions even though they wouldn't hurt anyone. In 2017, I found that some of the rules being proposed were less than optimal and by the time I found out about them, they were almost written in stone, so I wanted to try to get a little more into the local politics to see what could be improved and ask questions before it went to the voters. I thought the best way to do that would be to run for one of the Budget Committee seats in the town that had no one running for them. I won my seat with 10 right in votes for a 3 year term to the Budget Committee.
