My uncle, Milford Roe, a PFC was killed on the first day of fighting 11/20/43. He drove an amphibious tractor and went in with the first wave which, as I understand it, was decimated by the unscathed Japanese shore batteries. Roe was probably in the 2nd Amphibious Tractor Battalion.
