Jilson P. Prater, Private, Company D, 45th Kentucky Mounted Infantry. He joined the company on Sept. 28, 1863 and was mustered into the regiment on Oct. 17, 1863 at Ashland, KY. He was present with the regiment until April 1864 when he was listed as, "sick in the hospital at Irvine, KY." He died of his sickness on May 4, 1864 at Irvine, KY. His widow was listed in the 1890 Special Veterans Census of Magoffin Co., KY. He is my 4th Great-Uncle.
