Francis Marion Castle was born in 1843 in Johnson Co., KY, the son of Henry Castle and Susan "Susie" Daniel, the grandson of Nathan Castle, ggrandson of Jacob Castle Jr., and gggrandson of Jacob Castle Sr. . His brother, Charles Jefferson Castle, served beside him in the 45th KY Mounted Infantry. Francis married Polly Holliday on 18 Jul 1861 in Johnson Co., KY and was remarried to Alice Scarbury (born in VA) on 1 May 1871, also in Johnson Co., KY. In the 1880 Johnson Co., Census, Francis is listed as being a coal miner. He is buried in the Van Hoose Cemetery, Mingo, Johnson Co., KY. Francis filed for an invalid pension on October 11, 1896 and it appears to have been granted.

A member of Company C, 45th KY Mounted Infantry (Union). Charles was born in 1845, the son of Henry Castle and Susan "Susie" Daniel, grandson of Nathan Castle, ggrandson of Jacob Castle Jr., and gggrandson of Jacob Castle, Sr. . His brother, Francis Marion Castle, served beside him in the 45th KY Mounted Infantry. Charles married Sarah King on 30 Dec 1869 in Johnson Co., KY. He is buried in the Paintsville Cemetery, Paintsville, Johnson Co., KY. A minor's pension was filed for Charles Castle, Private, Company C on July 9, 1880. Charles must have died prior to this date.

Solomon Castle was born in 1844 in Lawrence County, Kentucky, the son of John E. Castle, grandson of Zedekiah Alan Castle, ggrandson of Jacob Castle Jr. and gggrandson of Jacob Castle Sr. of Russell County, Virginia. Solomon died on June 30, 1926 in Martin County, Kentucky. His father, John E. Castle and uncle, Zedekiah Castle, served beside him in the 45th Kentucky.
Private Zedekiah Alan Cassell (Castle), Co. F
Zedekiah Alan Castle Jr. was born in 1834 in Lawrence County, Kentucky,
the son of Zedekiah Alan Castle Sr., grandson of Jacob Castle Jr., and
ggrandson of Jacob Castle Sr. of Russell County, Virginia. He married
Mary "Polly" Wyatt and they had at least one child, Sarabelle Castle, on
September 29, 1856 in Johnson County, Kentucky. Zedekiah's brothers,
Andrew Jackson Castle and Joshua Zion Castle, served in the 39th Kentucky
Mounted Infantry (US). His brother, John E. Castle and his nephew,
Solomon Castle, served beside him in the 45th Kentucky Mounted Infantry.
