Death Removes A Splendid Lady
Mrs. Clay Rowland Fogle, 82 years of age, died at her home here last Saturday morning about 4 o'clock after an illness of several months of a complication of troubles.  Deceased was born at Marrowbone, Cumberland county, and was a daughter of the late Quince and Catherine Jones Rowland, who came to this county when deceased was five years of age.  It is very seldom that a person living to be 82 years of age spends all but five years of that time on the same farm, but this is true with Mrs. Fogle as she died on the same farm to which her parents moved to when they came to Casey county in 1861.  She was married to J. C. Fogle in 1884.  They attended their first school together and they lived on adjoining farms.  Deceased was converted at the age of 14 years and became a member of the Middleburg Baptist church.  To this faith she lived a devoted Christian life throughout the remainder of the long life she was privileged to enjoy.  She had been an invalid for the past three years but remained cheerful and bore her suffering with much patience and fortitude.  She often remarked to members of her family and those who dropped in to visit her that nothing could happen to her that would cause her to lose her faith in God.  She lived a beautiful Christian life and left behind a wonderful example of Christian character.  Surviving are the husband, a son, Mr. Mc D. Fogle, and a daughter, Miss Ruby Fogle, to whom every heart goes out in the tenderest sympathy in this dark hour.  She is also survived by ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren as well as a multitude of friends who will grieve that she is no more in the flesh.  Funeral services were conducted at the home at 1 o'clock Sunday afternoon by the pastor, Rev. B. E. Settles, and burial followed in the family lot in Glenwood cemetery at Liberty.

Miss Lizzie Fogle, aunt of Miss Ruby Fogle, was buried Saturday afternoon at Glenwood Cemetery.  Death occurred at the home of her niece, Mrs. Ruth McCready, near Louisville, where she had made her home for several years.  She was born and reared on the Fogle farm on the Liberty pike, having belonged to one of the pioneer families of Casey County.  After leaving here she lived in Danville for several years.  In the active period of her life she was a schoolteacher and had many friends in this vicinity, as well as other parts of the country where she was known.  She was the daughter of McDowell Fogle lawyer and farmer.  Her mother's maiden name was Murphy.  Her brother, J. C. fogle, died on Christmas day at the age of 89 years and nine months.  They were of a family of large land owners for many generations and were known for being upright and honorable and Christian citizens.
