WOW!!!! Do you realize that 22 years ago
we were en route to Espana? What a GREAT time of my life.
Prior to UWP I had never traveled by airline or even seen
the ocean. I grew up in a Midwest blue-collar family that
didn't travel. My life experiences had been confined to
two states - Colorado and Nebraska. So as you can imagine
UWP had a huge impact on my life. You know I still get teased
about DANCING GOD's SKIN!!!! For those of you who don't
remember, I have two left feet and I am a monotone. No regrets
about going out on promotion all of the time, it helped
me land my current career with the airlines.
After UWP I decided not to travel another
year doing PR, instead I taught middle school Spanish and
Science. The middle school teaching experience was a challenge
at that tender age of 21. So it was an easy decision to
continue with my summer job at the airlines.
I had the pleasure of spending my single
years in my early twenties living with Callie Larson (Jackson)
and Elaine Mills (Little). Oh Yeah!!!! We had fun and then
some. It was wild and crazy and one of the best times of
my life. We have so many memories. A lot of Cast E 81 hung
out in Denver in those years and we had a blast. We had
some mini reunions, did some white water rafting and our
fair share of partying. Rusty Akers would pop into town
to attend the National Western Stock Show to see the "pigs".
Tony Flores usually made an annual visit and luckily UWP
reunions have brought a lot of people to Colorado. I got
married in 1986, and we live in Loveland. We both grew up
here and our extended families live here in Colorado.
We have two children Tom (13) and Callie
(12). They are great kids, such a joy to spend time with.
They are the best. They bring a new dimension to life and
I cherish every moment with them.
My UWP experience gave me the desire and
appetite to keep learning, traveling, and experiencing "LIFE".
I have extended my UWP experience by getting involved. I
am on the Board of Directors for Project Open Hearts. We
are a group that does medical and orphanage work globally.
My travels with Project Open Hearts have taken me to Central
Asia and I have done numerous trips to Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan,
and Kyrgyz tan.
I work for Continental Airlines. I have held
positions in Sales and Marketing for the past 20 years.
My career at Continental has given me the opportunity to
continue traveling and maintain relationships with many
of you. The bond we formed while we traveled was amazing
and I feel so blessed to have had the opportunity to travel
with all of your for a year. We formed life long friendships
that are priceless to me. The saying "you meet em where
ever you go" is so true. This week I went to a business
meeting and signed a contract for my airline to do a promotion
with Bruce Early's company ( Linda Lowe's husband) and (Promotion
guy). All of his employees are alumni. All of you take care
and if your travels find you in or near Colorado please
call and come by. I look forward to our 25th reunion.
