In the Marriages of San Fernando de Bexar, I have found the following folks;
Rafael Menchaca - Ma. Christina Jimenez 8/31/1839

Crescencio Montes - Ma. Ygnacia Martinez 12/12/1858

Miguel Sandoval - Refugia Palacios 10/21/1855

Paulino Sandoval - Rafaela Almaraz 3/10/1859

Mariano Casillas - Jesusa Ramirez 5/20/1851

Ascencio Constancio - Faviana Rubio 8/19/1854

Felipe Conde - Paz de Luna 8/26/1851

Jose Eusebio Montalvo - Ma. Felipa Guevara 7/12/1854

Manuel Montalvo - Gregoria Vasquez 2/7/1855

  Juventino S. Martinez
1924 - 2004

An American Hero, who fought in three wars; WW II, Korean & Vietnam. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge, and was the recipient of a Purple Heart and three Bronze Stars.

Juventino was the son of Felix Martinez and Rita Sandoval. Felix Martinez was born in 1883 to Albino Martinez and Gregoria Villarreal, and was among the Revolutionaries of the Sept. 26, 1906 event.

On January 3, 1923, Felix married Rita Sandoval, daughter of Felix Sandoval and Gregoria de Hoyos Conde, who was the daughter of Ursulo de Hoyos and Santa Ana Conde.

  Republic of Texas Veterans

It may be that three people who I've found the Old Republic of Texas pension applications, Manuel Montalvo, Crescencio Montes & Feliz Martinez are most likely the ones who came from San Antonio to Jimenez...all three of them are listed as "residents of Maverick Co., and states that they have never taken arms against or left the State.." and the kicker, they are all dated 11 Dec. 1874...all three of them went together.. I wonder which other ones, were among them? I know I have a Deciderio de Luna in my records from Jimenez..there's a person by that name also applying as well.
I have found a Vicente de la Garza, in some of those docs... could be the same Vicente, father of Paulino de la Garza..we will continue the search.

Thanks to the great research of Angelita Hernandez, who found Felipe Conde in both the the 1850 census of Texas, and in the 1830 Citizens of Texas. In the 1850 census in the settlement of Medina River, Felipe, { listed as "Phillip Condea" } along with wife Paz de Luna and five children are listed. Felipe is listed as 39 years of age, which supports the information on the death record from Jimenez in 1877 which stated that he was 66 years old at the time. Paz was 36 in 1850. The eldest child, "Fehlo" ? or " Justo"? is listed as 18 years of age, so making it probable that Felipe and Paz were married in about 1831. The other younger children appear later on in the Jiménez records, but until this time "Fehlo" was unknown to me.

Interesting notes

The 1850 census shows that Felipe was born in Texas, while Paz and four of the five children are listed as having been born in Mexico, except for the youngest being Teresa who was two at the time. Does this mean that Felipe was Mexico for a time?

Memories of Jiménez

"...my cousin Raul Garcia made us all aware of your site. I will be checking back...thank you. We hale from the Ambrocio & Simona Garcia side of the family.

We are also trying to keep interest going with our family website. Below is something I posted to our own site just to generate interest of our younger family members.
It's important to share what we remember; even as insignificant as we might think it might be. Hopefully this will generate the interest of others to post their snippets of recuerdos."

Thank You Leonel for such a Wonderful Story!

All Three Land Grant Lists

I have finally uploaded the remaining two list of the original Land Grant documents. Some of the same names are on those, but there are several that were not on the first list.
