The children will be able to identify similarities and differences between
Don Brown's books Ruth Law Thrills a Nation and One Giant Leap The Story
of Neil Armstrong.

The children
will do this on their own at first, but they will gather as a whole group and combine
their answeres onto chart paper.

Opening: The children will read the two books on their own
and evaluate them.
Main Activity or Activities:
After the children fill out their own Venn Diagram they will meet as a class
and combine their answers. Use interactive writing.
Questions
to Ask:
What genre is each book?
How do the illustration
compare to each other?
Where does each story take place?
How are the characters alike and different?
What style
of writing is used?
What are the points of view?
Closing: After creating the class chart discuss what kinds of
things each student didn't think about and whether they feel that is important to
the story.
