Review: Let's Bowl

LET'S BOWL
Premiere: August 19th, 2001
Hosts: Steve Sadahl and Wally Hotvedt (Rich Kronfeld)
Airtime: Sundays, 10:30 PM Eastern on Comedy Central.

GAME PLAY
Two contestants with a dispute between each other compete. They compete in a regulation game of bowling with these exceptions:

- Each player has a "distraction option". This means using an air horn to distract their opponent before a throw.
- One frame is the "Polka Frame" in which a polka-dotted pin is placed in pin position #1. The first player to hit it wins a prize valued around $250.
- Another variation is the "Combat Frame" with a camoflauge pin instead of the polka-dotted one.
- A player behind by at least twenty points in the ninth frame plays for double in the "Super Strike".

The winner gets a full apology, or if the dispute was over something, the winner gets it. The loser receives the "Let's Bowl" package: a bowling ball, shirt, and shoes.

After the game, the winner can win the grand prize by defeating the league bowler. Each player gets one ball, and if the player knocks down more pins or the same amount of pins as the league bowler, they win a prize valued at $3,000-$5,000 including a trip.

NOTES
"Let's Bowl" originally started as a public access show in Minnesota.

Throughout the show other segments appear like "Greiviance in the Gutter" where each contestant tells more about their side of the story. And "Inside Bowling," a comedy sketch about bowling tips.

MY THOUGHTS
"Let's Bowl" is a good show. Very funny. It's "The People's Court" and "Bowling for Dollars" rolled up into one.

JAY SAYS...
Cast - 2.0
Game - 2.0
Bells and Whistles - 1.0
Prize - 1.0
Tilt - 2.0

It's really funny, but it seems to missing something I can't quite put my finger on. It still is a must-watch in my opinion!
