CAUGHT IN THE ACT (Unsold pilot)
Jim Peck
Tape date: 1975
Host: Jim Peck
Announcer: Bob Clayton

GAME PLAY
Bill: If she's from Hollywood, she arranges for her divorce. Two contestants competed. Five celebrities tried to avoid being "caught in the act" by giving deceptive clues to a subject. One part of the subject would be given to the players ("It happens when a girl...") and they would try to finish it. After each celebrity clue, the players could buzz-in and guess what the other part was ("...gets married."). If they got it right, their symbol went in front of the celebrity and they were "caught." If a player buzzed-in on a celebrity already caught by their opponent, they stole it from them. The first to catch three celebrities played the bonus round with them.

$5,000! 'Are you a person?' 'Yes!' Each celebrity and the contestant were given an identity. Each identity was related to the last. They had 60 seconds to travel down the line. The first celebrity's identity was revealed. He or she used yes or no questions to guess what the next celebrity's identity was. When they guess right, that celebrity asked questions of the contestant. After a correct guess, the contestant tried to figure out the third celebrity's persona. Getting down the line in 60 seconds was worth $1,000 and getting down the line is 30 seconds ot less was worth $5,000. The winner faced a new challenger in the next game.

NOTES
The stars on this pilot were Anne Meara, Bill Cullen, Anita Gilette, Clifton Davis and Stephanie Braxton.

'I AM A VIRGIN!' (Answer below) The celebrities were very clever in their clues. The game was very loose and allowed for a lot of humor. In the picture at the right, Anita reveals her bonus round identity.

MY THOUGHTS
It's a fun game, although it relies on the celebrities somewhat. Anne, Clifton and Bill were all funny and clever, and that made it entertaining. But if you put a few weirdos and dull minds in the seats, you've got little to watch for. The money is a bit slim, but being a show focused on comedy rather than the actual game, it's not a problem.

Jim Peck does a good job, and he even throws in some quips here and there. Some problems though; the set is cramped. There is no money for winning the game. And the bonus had nothing to do with the main game.
