Planet of Origin: Duro

Height of Average Adult: 1.7 meter

     Duros are among the oldest space-faring people in the galaxy along with the Corellians. Duros society has evolved around spaceflight. They have helped in blazing hyperspace routes for trade throughout the galaxy.

     They are a tall humanoid race with blue skin, large red eyes, slit mouths and no nose. Glands beneath their eyes conduct their sense of smell. Other than that they have no other outward physical peculiarity that makes them appear different from standard humanoids.

     The Duros can be mostly found living on one of the six space stations that orbit the planet since their society is centered around spaceflight. They once lived on the surface of the planet which was once lush and fertile. When they discovered spaceflight they abandoned the planet to live on the space stations. They neglected the planet and the planet became barren. What the Duros didn't ruin the Empire finished the job with their mining operations.

     Technologically advanced the Duros build a great many of the galaxy's space-faring vessels. In fact, the shipbuilding industry dominates the economy and is it's government. For one to participate in their worlds government one must purchase shares of stock in the corporation.

     Culturally, the Duros longing for theskies has led many of them to become pilots and join starship crews. They gravitate to the spaceports , from which they start their new journeys. to a Duros, the joy is not in where one goes, but  in getting there and they spend a great deal of their time just "getting there".

     They are a quiet but friendly, even tempered species. They also love to tell stories.

     There is one way to make a Duros angry and that is to call them a Neimoidian. Despite theprotests of the Duros Neimoidians are actually their genetic offspring, having descended from ancient Duros colonists.
