Soviet space exhibit at the St. Louis Science Center in 1993.
Lunokhod was a rover sent to the moon and remotely controlled on the ground.  The first successfully landed in 1970.
Venera.  These craft survived the 900 degree F and high pressure atmosphere of Venus. The Russians were the first to land on Venus and still the only nation to return color pictures of the surface.
In 1988, the then Soviet Union sent two craft to Mars called Phobos 1 &2.  Unfortunately, they both failed upon reaching Mars.  They were equiped with a tiny lander that would have touched down and hopped around on the low gravity of Phobos a moon of Mars.
Unlike the United States, the Russians did send a spacecraft to Halley's Comet in 1986.  Called Vega 1 & 2, they studied Venus on their way to the comet.
