Meade 12.5"
Research Grade Reflector Telescope

Built for the serious amateur astronomer, the Meade Research Series Newtonian Reflector was offered in the early 1980's.  With unique features like the rotating tube and the oversize equatoral mount it is a rare telescope, and no currently produced telescope can compare to it's quality and features.  With the 12.5" f/6 main mirror, it is suited for advanced visual and photographic observing of the solar system and deep sky objects.

Here is the declination housing and setting circle. Above the setting circle is the declination lock.
The original box the primary mirror arrived in is still in good shape and has been used for storage of the mirror.  Sitting on the box are:

extra weights, (center)
declination assembly, (bottom and upper right) drive corrector
2" eyepiece holder (right)
brackets for guide scope (top)
The telescope and accessories have been in storage since about 1990.  Since then, it has been moved from Indiana to California where it is now.  The white telescope tube has minor scratches and some cracks but none compromise optical ability or the structure of the tube.  The primary and secondary mirrors are in very good condition and have some dust on them.  The equatoral mount and tripod are both in excellent condition.

The spider mount the secondary mirror is mounted on is missing 2 bolts that secure it to the tube.  These may have broken off during the move west.  The telescope is usable but some repair should be done to the secondary support to assure stability.

The telescope is now stored in Riverside, California.  Unfortunately, we are not prepared for or have the means to ship the telescope.  The high bidder will have to pick the telescope up in person.  Final payment and arrangements for picking up the telescope will be resolved  after the auction.  The tripod can be broken down into manageable parts but the main tube is 6' 4" long.
