Apollo 11 Landing Site
There is not much to see around the landing site due to its lack of surrounding terrain.  For the first landing on the moon, a site was needed that would present the least challenges during landing.  The Sea of Tranquility is a flat lava plain with occasional wrinkle ridges visible to the upper left of the site itself.  This area also is the landing sites for unmanned craft.  Ranger 6 was successfull and crash landed exactly where it was supposed to. Unfortunatelly, it's camera failed to work and no pictures were returned.  Ranger 8 sent thousands of pictures before it too crashed into the moon.  Surveyor 5 soft landed on the surface and took almost 20,000 pictures and studied the physical and chemical properties of the moon.
