Day 6 - June 28, 2006

Rest Day in Merritt, BC

Distance: 0 km

Our original plan last night was to go out to a pub and party in Merritt. However, going 619km in week made me so exhausted that eight of us just watch a moving on my laptop. All that we could find at the 7-11 store was "In Good Company" but it was cool to watch it from a camp chair outside! Gary managed to locate some speakers so it was mellow way to kill the evening.

Today was a rest day and I definitely needed it! I had a horrible sleep last night and I believe that yesterday’s crash was worse than I originally suspected. I have a massive bruise on my right hip and a very sore neck and shoulder which made sleeping on the ground very uncomfortable. I pretty much had to get up around 8:30am because the heat in the tent was unbearable. So, I spent the day at the internet cafe updating this website and sorting through pictures. I had hoped to go for a swim but my bike was in desperate need of some love so I spent the evening cleaning, greasing, and tuning her.

Tomorrow we have a pretty long ride to Pritchard, BC which is east of Kamloops. I am very still very stiff from the crash and I am a little worried about how my body will react. We'll have to wait and see I guess.

Our kitchen and campground at Merritt, BC.

Our driver Mike, a commerce co-op student from the University of Windsor. That's a tooth brush in his mounth (in case you're wondering!)
