[1]John W. Cornett - Born abt. 1824.  John married a woman named Jane Stapleton. 1827 in Hawkins Co. They are living in Hawkins Co (there are three families of Cornutt’s listed and their named are changed to Cornett in the 1860 census).   In the 1860 census the children are divided and Jane is not found.  John is listed in the 1860 census as a convict on  5 June 1860, he was in jail, in Rogersville, Hawkins Co., TN, for murder. John was a blacksmith.  John and Jane’s children are:

[3]John - Born abt 1856 in Hawkins Co. Tenn.  John is a twin of Isaac.  John was living with Issac and Nancy Stapleton (I believe they are Jane's parents) in Hawkins Co. Tenn. according to the 1860 census.

Isaac K. - Born abt 1856 in Hawkins Co. Tenn.  Isaac is a twin of John.  Issac was living with Issac and Nancy Stapleton (I believe they are Jane’s parents) in Hawkins Co. Tenn. according to the 1860 census. Issac married Ellen Tankersely (Tankedy) (b. abt. 1856 in Virginia) 3 sep 1876 in Lee Co. Virginia. In the 1880 census of Virginia Isaac and Ellen are living in the Yoakum Star District of Lee county Virginia. Issac and Ellen in 1880 have one child Charles 7/12 year old.

Comment: Hawkins Co. Tenn. is on the boarder of Va not far from Grayson Co. where a great many Cornett (Cornutt) families’ are  found.  It is not uncommon to find names spelled wrong on the census as the census taker reported what he heard.
