KLASHING WITH THE
KLASH
12" DOUBLE
LP
original cover
a re-issue cover
- Reference number: K100, Other
Artists, Tune Wizard Records
- 198? US release
- Partial show from Septermber
21, 1979 (complete set list here)
- Venue: The Palladium, New
York
- Sound Rating: 9
- Vinyl: Black, Multi-Color,
Picture Disk
- Variations: There are many
slight variations on this record. What I believe to be the first
issue came in a brown jacket with the "Klashing With the Klash"
title printed inside a heart, and the "Other Artists" center
lables. There are then known variations on the LPs pictured as
follows: 1) Titled "The Clash" with a green cover, red and tan
wraparound insert cover, and "Other Artists" labels; 2) Titled
"The Clash" with a silver cover, black and tan wraparound insert
cover, and blank white labels; 3) Titled "The Clash" with a white
cover, black and white wraparound insert cover, and blank white
labels; 4) Titled "The Clash" with a red cover, black and white
wraparound insert cover, blank white labels, and "Tune Wizard
Records" sticker on cover (4" x 4.5"); 5) Titled "The Clash" with
a white cover, black and tan wraparound insert cover,
multi-colored vinyl, and the labels pictured below - this is the
version whose cover is scanned above - it was also issued like
this but with blank white labels; 6) A single LP issue (sides A
and B only) picture disk of "The Clash" cover in tan and red, with
a blue sleeve. All of these are from the same master, which is the
best sounding version of this show, though it has had five songs
edited out. The source is a WNEW broadcast, and the DJs are heard
talking. The (mis-labeled) BBC Radio Broadcast
(7") takes "London
Calling" and "English Civil War" from this source. For other
releases of this show from different masters see The Guns Of Brixton
(CD), Clampdown USA
(LP), Live USA
(CD), Money Made Us Flexible
(CD), and Bronx City Rockers
(CD).
