Simony is an omanian church soldier. He is a fervent atheist, and that seems to appeal to the great god Om, because that kind of hate is almost like love. Simony went to Ephebe with the omanian delegation so he could bring the writer of the revolutionary scroll The Turtle Moves back to Omania. The fact that Didactylos, the writer, didnt know his scroll was the cause of a revolution doesnt matter to him. He just wants to get rid of the church and especially Deacon Vorbis. |

Not a trace of doubt in my mind. |
I'm in love, I'm a believer! |
I couldn't leave her if I tried. |

I thought love was more or less a given thing, |
Seems the more I gave the less I got. |
What's the use in tryin'? |
All you get is pain. |
When I needed sunshine I got rain. |

Then I saw her face, now I'm a believer |
Not a trace of doubt in my mind. |
I'm in love, I'm a believer! |
I couldn't leave her if I tried. |
