4 The Demon Marble
By:
Inuki **Ookami**
Now they were almost at the bottom of the massive
mountain they had seen from the hill above the farm. It was a
massive mountain, and a small crooked wooden sign that blew in the wind read
"Demon Mountain". So the two began
slowly climbing the mountain. The mountain was much harder to climb than the
wall around the Rock Guild. The
mountain was rough, the edges were jagged, and if they slipped once the result
could be fatal. As they climbed higher
and higher the found themselves becoming more and more tired. Scorpiondidn't
have much magic left, after using a
flying spell and a teleportation technique right after each other, even though
it was two days after, they had been going
and only stopped two or three times to rest. As they continued wearily climbing
up the mountain the rocks seemed to
grow sharper, and more jagged and pointy. They climbed and they climbed and
they climbed even more. Soon enough
they came to some strange cliff. As the two climbed up to it they found that
a small cave inside. There was room for a
small creature to enter. It was a long tunnel, and Inuki could have fit nothing
larger than his arm in. Scorpion lowered
his face, and looked into the hole, but there was no light, it was totally black.
Suddenly a small head poked out of it. Two
little red, beady eyes stared out at them. It stayed stiffly for a moment,
then popped back in. Inuki blinked. Scorpion curiously lowered his head towards
the hole. Suddenly the creature came
flying out of the hole. Scorpion gave the creature a strange look, then decided
to see where it had run off to. He shape-
shifted into a rat and climbed into the hole, chasing after it. As it dove into
the tunnel it's eyes glowed red, guiding the
way. Inuki stood for a moment, stunned. Whether he was more stunned by the creature's
appearance, or by the fact that
Scorpion had chased after it could not be made clear. Suddenly he snapped out
of his thoughts, realizing he was about
to be left behind, quickly he used some magic and shape-shifted into a small,
strange white mouse creature. He had a
small tail, and mouse-like ears. He had two tiny feet, and was rather round
looking. He bounced into the hole, and
bounded after Scorpion.
Inuki finally caught up to the two a moment
after Scorpion had caught up to the little creature. The tiny black
creature blinked, it's red eyes growing big. It stared blankly at the two, and
said in a squeaky voice
"I Asa Husi!" Inuki began remembering how stupid demons could be.
Tyranoki had barely been an example, as he had
probably been one of the smarter demons. There was something different about
this demon though, something that
neither immediately knew. This was a very kind demon, and it merely lived to
please and take care of other people. The
demon turned around and immediately invited them to stay at it's house for a
little while. They agreed, figuring that
perhaps they could find a short-cut through the mountain. As they followed the
demon they found more and more forks
in the tunnel. It was like they were walking up one of those family trees, they
start at the bottom with one person, and
seperate, they would turn left here, right there, then another right, go into
the center tunnel sometimes, it was like a
labrynth, a maze of tunnels.
Finally they came down one tunnel where they
stopped abruptly. Inuki halted to a stop, almost running into
Scorpion. That's when the little demon's eyes glowed a deep glowing red, and
suddenly the wall was changing. It was
no longer grey, but was suddenly brown, a small door. Slowly Asa Husi reached
out, and opened the door, and the two
followed the little demon. The demon sat the two down on tiny chairs at a tiny
table, everything was like doll house
furniture, and to any normal human would have been extremely delicate. Slowly
the demon brought in a large hunk of
cheese and a few smaller pieces of a thick bread the felt and looked like pita
bread. Asa Husi sat himself down at the
table, and put the cheese inside of the pita and began ravenously gobbling it
down.
Soon Inuki and Scorpion, who had not really
had a good, solid meal since the farm, Inuki had slipped Scorpion
some food under the table, were starving. They stuffed themselves full with
the food, and thanked the creature.
Unfortunately they weren't hungry currently, due to their size, but that tiny
bit of food wasn't enough for their normal
bodies. They didn't realize that, so finished off the rest of the cheese and
began to leave. Asa Husi asked them if they
wanted anything else, so Inuki asked him if there happened to be any things
near them that were called guilds.
Immediately the little demon's eyes lit up and it nodded, telling them it would
be back in a moment, and take them to a
guild. Of course it told them this using extremely bad grammar.
The creature led the two through some more
tunnels, before leading them into a strange room. It was full of strange
little statues. Each statue was a demon, and it had two little gems instead
of eyes. There, among the many statues was
one large platform, and on it sat a small glass case, and in the glass case
was a tiny marble. The marble had red and
black mists, and inside of it was a tiny demon head. Inuki gasped and stared
at it. Scorpion didn't notice it, until Inuki
tapped Scorpion with a paw. Then Inuki saw it. The demon Asa Husi didn't realize
it was night, and was angry that no
other demons were there to greet his new guests, so he ran off in search of
them. Immediately Inuki dived at the marble,
he snatched it after breaking the tiny case with his tail. Suddenly the two
realized that that probably wasn't the best
approach, due to the fact that large alarms were going off. Hundreds of demons
swarmed into the room, thinking that
they were being attacked, so Scorpion gave them what they wanted. He threw bomb
after bomb at them, statues
exploded, reducing to rubble, demons were hit by the blasts, and the two escaped.
