"Wait five minutes, then we'll go
outside, and start the rally." said Mitsuhiro, who had been intensely
working on his computer for hours, building the perfect robot. He downloaded
the designing program from his old roommate's website. Now he was just about
finished. He clicked the save button one last time, exited the program, then
E-mailed the two engineers and gave them detailed instructions on how to build
the robots and what size each piece should be down to the very last screw
and bolt. He then told them which half they would be doing. Kaleb walked towards
their refrigerator, pulled out a can of rootbeer from the bottom and opened
the top. It popped open and bubbled with a frothy fragrance floating through
the air. Mitsuhiro drew back the curtains, huge lanterns and torches of all
kinds from the girl's tents and beds and camps illuminated the night air,
and brightened the night sky above the campus. Amongst all the talking and
chattering, singing, dancing, and overall fooling around there came one girls
loud shrieking scream
"Look! There he is! It's Mitsuhiro!" suddenly all music stopped,
all singing stopped, and dancing stopped, all talking ceased. It was perfectly
quiet, as more than one-thousand girl's heads turned, and looked up at the
pilot that stood on the window sill.
"Oh my god! He's going to commit suicide! Save him! Save him!" came
desperate cries from the crowd. But he steadied himself, and assured them
that there was nothing wrong. Kaleb's head poked out, and cheering arose.
He reached out an arm, and found himself being pulled up and out of the window
by the other boy. They climbed up to the roof, Mitsuhiro much more calm than
the American. Kaleb found he was extremely nervous about the whole thing,
and really didn't want to go, but Mitsuhiro insisted, saying that only half
the girls would listen to him, Kaleb had to be there for all their supporters
to agree to their terms.
The two boys stood up on Building D's
roof, while the crowds below gathered all around the front of the building,
looking up at the two boys. They all cheered wildly, and then broke into silence
as Mitsuhiro raised a hand to silence them. The girls sat eagerly.
"Now, I may not be the best at speeches, but we are both very grateful
that you all are here today, because a time has come when we need your help!
Now, you may not all be as loyal and dedicated as others, so if you don't
wish to help us, then please move away because what I am about to tell you
has never ever been attempted before! We are going to work behind the entire
country's back! We are going to work behind every single piloting, space,
electronic, and engineering company! Now, they have given the two of us, and
the top two engineers a very difficult task. To go to each of these companies
and take an interview. Now do you think we could possibly read and phone up
and go to all of these interviews?" Mitsuhiro spoke, loudly and clearly,
motioning to the papers.
"No!" cheered the audience of girls as one. Nobody stepped back
when Mitsuhiro said those who didn't wish to help step back.
"I sent the two engineers the design, and they are currently working
for us to build a robot which will work all day long sending four messages
to each company, telling them that we will be interviewed at exactly 1:00
Am on Saturday. That is two days from now. Now I want you all to get into
pairs of two. That way we will have one copy of the phone number of the companies
so that the robot can phone them, and the other copy will go to you guys so
you can do the interviews. Now, I'm going to drop these two files. One is
mine, one is one of the engineers. Some of the companies may be the same,
so there may be two of you at each company, representing us, or the engineers,
or there may be four of you representing all of us. Remember, don't go in
at the exact same time! Go in one after the other, the companies should have
a list. Now remember, with your partner read the sheet carefully, it will
clearly be marked "Engineer" or "Pilot" at the top. Then
just choose your favorite one of the four of us, tell the company that you
are our secretaries or that you represent us, and then make up a bunch of
stuff about how smart we are, and all the stuff we have achieved. In fact,
if you really are our loyal fans, as you claim to be, then I'm sure than most
of you know what we've done. For the information on the engineers just e-mail
them. Their e-mails are also conveniently written on the top of the engineer's
sheets that the company wants to interview. I hope this isn't too much trouble.
And as a reward cone at 2:00 Am on Saturday next week. If your interview goes
well, and we are accepted to the company you can put your name in a hat, and
we will raffle out three prizes. The third prize is my hat which I am wearing
right now, the second is Kaleb's jacket which he is wearing, and the grand
prize is to spend all of next Sunday with one of us! The grand prize will
be given to the best partner team." the girls cheered, and Mitsuhiro
and Kaleb opened the folders, as hundreds of colored papers of blue, red,
pink, yellow, white, orange, green, purple, violet, mauve, gray, scarlet,
black, aqua-marine, and tons of other colored pieces floated down to the cheering
girls, they wrestled over the papers, making sure that none got bent! They
were valuable, as each one gave them a chance to the grand prize! To actually
spend an entire Sunday with one or both of the top boy pilots in the best
school in the entire country!
Meanwhile Mitsuhiro's old roommate was had just received the document and was working on it when he heard strange noises like a primitive festival of some kind. He was oblivious to the girls before, but this noise made him think that something was wrong in space, very wrong. He ran to the window, and looked through his telescope. Many strange meteors were moving around in the sky! Something was very wrong- no! Wait! He had angled it incorrectly. Those were torches! What was Mitsuhiro doing? He sighed, and deciding to take a break from building the robot, since he needed some more materials that he could only get from the school, which Mitsuhiro would have to take, borrow, or steal from the school. Like an engine for instance, it was very high-powered, and would be hard to get, nearly impossible at a store. There were even some illegal materials, that had been banned from their country a while ago. It was the only way to make the robot exactly the way Mitsuhiro wanted. So the engineer took a break, and gaze up at the stars. How truly beautiful those glowing masses were. But wait! What was that! There was something, very distant, that was heading their way! It was something he had never seen before! Some kind of an alien craft? No! As it moved closer he spotted three letters, I.P.M.!
