Phasic Chess Equipment: 1 standard set of chessmen 1 4x4x4 playing field 32 red tokens 32 blue tokens 32 yellow tokens The tokens are used to denote the "phase" of the piece. The phases are from Red to Orange to Yellow to Green to Blue to Purple and back to Red. Combination of the primary tokens, Red, Blue and Yellow, are used to denote the secondary phases, Orange, Green and Purple. Piece are introduced to the field using whatever phase that the player desires. When a piece moves without capturing, it shifts one phase, either clockwise or counter-clockwise, according to the choice of the player. So that a Red may become an Orange or a Purple. Or a Green may become a Yellow or a Blue. Pieces which preform captures assume the phase of the captured piece. Piece may not capture pieces in cells which have the same phase qualities. For example: Red captures Yellow, Blue and Green. Orange captures Blue. Yellow captures Red, Blue and Purple. Green captures Red. Blue captures Red, Yellow and Orange. Purple captures Yellow. Pieces, except for the King, may occupy the same cell if they are of the same player and there is no other piece with the same phase qualities in the cell. This will be a maximum of three being Red, Yellow and Blue. This may mean that a cell will become invulnerable to attack by an opponent. Play begins with the field empty. Each player, in turn, introduces their King onto the field in any desired phase. Then, in turns, they may either introduce a piece or move a piece on the field. Pieces move according to their classic 3D movement, Pawns are replaced with Unicorns. Pieces may not be introduced onto any occupied cell or immediately give check. The game is won by checkmating the opponent King. Remember that pieces capture only those that do not have the same phase qualities, and therefor since a capturing piece assumes the phase of its captive, they defend only those that do not have the same phase qualities. It is also possible to capture two pieces at once. For example: A piece in Blue and a piece in Yellow occupy the same cell, then an enemy piece in Red can take the cell and all that occupy it. That piece would then assume the phase of both the captives which would be Green.
