Simple Plan
Simple Plan - "Still Not Getting Any..." DualDisc w/ DVD-A  (Kazaamies = 2.75 of 5)

Maybe I'm being too generous with a 3 rating?  Or maybe I'm being too harsh?  Nah... Let's give just give it a 2.75, eh?  Yeah.  You see, the surround mix on Simple Plan's pop/punk album is, erm, well... quite a bit simple, so to speak.  Sure...  It gets the job done, but it doesn't impress me.  It's almost as if a machine created this surround mix.  Did they just run it through a Dolby Pro-logic 2 processor and hit record?  Beats me.  But there doesn't seem to have been much human intervention.  Still, it sounds all right.  There is just enough information in the surround channels to fill the listening room in a fuller way that stereo cannot as easily do.  Still... I'd prefer a little bit of gimmickry of whatnot to jazz things up, but maybe some listeners will prefer this no nonsense approach to surround mixing?  Personally, I think I'm being too generous.  (FYI - This is a DualDisc with CD on one side and DVD on the other.  Recording rates:  88.2 kHz / 24-Bit for surround; 88.2 kHz / 16-Bit for stereo.)
