Seal - "Best: 1991-2004" DVD-Audio (Kazaamies = 4-1/2 of 5)
Many thanks to Bob R for recommending this disc! For without his recommendation I likely would have passed on this DVD-Audio release. And that would've been a mistake.
As he had mentioned, not only do you get a collection of Seal's best work, but also included as a bonus is an entire album of acoustic performances. (All on one disc, though.)
The original studio tracks are recorded at 88.2 kHz / 24 bit for surround sound. It has nice sonics. The surround mix is quite pleasant. For the most part it isn't too discrete or aggressive, yet the sound is still rich and full.
The acoustic tracks appear to have been recorded in a studio as well. So they are not live performances. The production is of a high quality, yet there is still some immediacy and intimacy to the music. Besides vocals, you'll get to hear an assortment of acoustic instruments---organ, piano, xylophone, guitar, drums, among others. Interestingly, the surround mix on these acoustic tracks is arguably more experimental and more discrete than the mix found on the non-acoustic tracks. I enjoy them quite a bit. BTW... The acoustic tracks are at 44.1 kHz / 24 bits for surround sound.
One last thing. I appreciate the fact that the bonus music videos include 5.1 Dolby Digital surround sound. |
