Boltz, Boltz, and more Boltz!!! Switched to the Boltz TV and speaker stands. Also in the picture is a Boltz media rack. And the coffee table is one of the original style Boltz tables, which ironically, doesn't actually contain any bolts that hold it together. Oh... and one more thing: I'm using the computer as a music server now.

Playstation 3 (Blu-Ray) Look close, it's there. Bought it in August 2007, shortly after the initial price decrease. It makes for great movies and I enjoy playing pac-man on it, too. And do you like the fake plant? It's very green.

Bring On HDMI, TrueHD Surround Spring 2008. Picked up an Onkyo TX-SR605 receiver. The main attraction is its HDMI ports which allow me to experience the high-resolution Dolby TrueHD surround sound or the uncompressed multichannel PCM soundtracks on Blu-Ray discs. This receiver also allows me to experiment with using a single HDMI cable for SACD when it has been transcoded to PCM. Both my PS3 60GB and my Oppo can do this.

The Best Way To Hear Cool Music? Easy! Just put your surround speaker on top of the fridge. I know, I know... It's a crappy location, but it's the best I could do in this small room. At least I've tried to minimize vibrations using lots of poster putty under the speaker. FWIW, I don't think it sounds so bad. But I still dream about a living room that will allow me to break out that extra set of B&W DM303's to use as surrounds, again.

A New Couch, A Used Chair Here's the other surround speaker. A better view of the Boltz coffee table, too. And what is that book on the table? Oh, yes... It's Stephen Colbert's "I Am America (And So Can You!)". I'm not overly policital one way or the other, but that guy is funny. Every hero should have a copy of this book. Maybe two.

Worst Investment Ever? Let's see. Toshiba announced that due to a monetary payoff, Paramount was going to become HD-DVD exlusive for 18 months. Considering that Universal already was exclusive to HD-DVD, too, I figured I should invest in an HD-DVD player for the short-term, even if I had long since changed my allegance to Blu-Ray. So in November 2007 I bought an HD-A3 with 10 free discs for $200.00. About 3 months later the format is officially declared dead. I should've known better.
