A.I. - "Artificial Intelligence"
Movie Soundtrack - "A.I. - Artificial Intelligence"  DVD-Audio  (Kazaamies = 3.75 of 5)

This thing sounds just like a movie soundtrack.  Big surpise, I know.  The music was created for the Steven Spielberg motion picture, "Artificial Intelligence".  Composed and conducted by John Williams, who is no stranger to film scores, the sound of this disc has a heaviness whose weight feels a bit crushing in the absence of visuals.  It also doesn't feel quite as open to me as some symphonic pieces.  But, then again, this ain't exactly supposed to be Mozart.  The surround mix on the DVD-Audio edition is encoded at 88.2 kHz / 24 Bits and, while it does allow for the very rare discrete effect in the back channels, it tends to be mostly spacious and ambient.  Think of how a typical movie sounds during big, dramatic scenes and you'll get the picture, so to speak.  So, as far as movie soundtracks go, it's probably quite good.  It's just that, with the exception of a couple of vocal tracks, I'd rather hear this music when it's accompanied by a cast of actors and actresses on the silver screen.
