Sammy Hagar and the Waboritas - "Live/Hallelujah" DVD-Audio (Kazaamies = Zero of 5)
Ever get the impression that I like almost everything on DVD-Audio? Well... Here's a real stinker of a review: Sammy Hagar's "Live/Hallelujah" release. I don't know why someone even bothered to release this on high-resolution DVD-Audio. It's pointless! Don't get me wrong. I absolutely love Hagar and even his solo stuff, but the recording quality on this disc sounds more like a poor bootleg than high-resolution. What is worse, the surround mix doesn't even do a convincing job of simulating crowd noise. The surrounds could've at least been artificially stacked with rowdy applause. But did they? No. There isn't even a dedicated stereo track. So for this disc I wouldn't bother. Kazaamie rating? It doesn't deserve one. It gets nothing. There I feel better! Now could someone please just show me where we keep the toilet paper and hand soap so that I don't infect any of the decent surround discs with this crap? |
