Diana Krall - "The Girl In The Other Room" SACD or DualDisc w/DVD-A (Kazaamies = 4 of 5)
I'm not much of a Diana Krall fan, but this album I like. The surround mix seems appropriate enough for a studio album. It's feels somewhat natural, but not completely ambient. Interestingly, in my experience, the SACD version sounds noticeably better than the DVD-Audio version. It's understandable that my equipment may be somewhat of a factor in potentially being better performing at one format versus another. However, I've not noticed such a difference before. So I felt it was worth mentioning just in case the difference---at least with this particular set of discs---were to turn out to be real. If someone were in doubt about which format to buy this album in, I'd recommend going with the SACD. That's only with this particular album, though. Generally speaking, I don't have a preference for one format over the other (when comparing DVD-Audio and SACD). |
