Bob Dylan
    Bob Dylan - "Slow Train Coming" SA-CD (Kazaamies = 4 of 5)

This album from 1979 reflects in its lyrics Dylan's then recent conversion to Christianity.  If I'm not mistaken, he has since returned to Judaism.  Songs include, "Gotta Serve Somebody", "Precious Angel", and "When He Returns".  I'm definitely a Dylan novice---and since I'm not really big into overtly religious overtones---I was pleasantly surprised to find that I enjoyed the music on Slow Train quite a bit.  It is filled with tons of rock organs/keyboards that have that sort of "bluesy" 1970s vibe to them.  As for the surround sound on this disc, it's pretty straightforward with nothing too gimmicky.  Vocals are up front.  I think there may be a little bit of 4-channel stereo going on with the keyboards from time to time.  Later in the album, the songs become a little more playful with some instruments isolated in the surrounds.  Yet, everything seems to blend together quite well.  At least these are the impressions I get when I listen to it.  So, hopefully, that's at least half accurate.  Nonetheless, "Slow Train" is one of the better Dylan SACDs.  It has a very enjoyable surround mix, and the recording itself feels very warm and inviting.

Note:  This is a hybrid SACD with a CD-compatible layer.
