Using the (tongue-in-cheek) world famous Kazaamie rating scale, I'd give this release a solid 3 Kazaamies out of 5. Possibly a little more, but definitely not less as I've heard worse.
I found the surround mix to be entirely pleasant. It didn't blow me away with anything I haven't already heard before, but I guess it didn't overly offend. There's some stuff going on in the surrounds, so there's no mistaking it's a surround mix. The vocals are fairly strong in the center, which some surround fans might really like. I would have preferred the vocals spread out across the front three speakers a little bit more, though. Dynamic range is fairly compressed, but it is a pop/rock record afterall.
I'd recommend this surround album. It's not a "must have", but if you're a fan of 3 Doors Down _or just need something to buy on impulse) this won't disappoint.
The Super Audio CD version is a hybrid SACD/CD disc that will play a stereo-only track on regular CD Players and high resolution stereo or surround on SACD players. Available separately is a DVD-Audio version.
Note: There was also a DualDisc version of this album released, though, I cannot confirm if the surround mix is in the high-resolution DVD-Audio format or not.
