The Portland Hotel Society's Interurban art gallery at 9 East Hastings St. had a window smashed shortly after it opened in late July. Someone wrote "Just what the 'hood needs, an art gallery" near the broken window.
The Portland Hotel Society makes millions upon millions of dollars every year administering the poverty, misery and degradation of the people of the Downtown East Side.
