Vancouver Police Under Siege on Granville Street

The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) is telling the corporate media that young men are increasingly challenging and assaulting Vancouver cops "working" on Granville street.

Vancouver pig Dave Jones says six cops have been injured on Granville in the past month, one of whom suffered a concussion when he was attacked by a young male. The VPD's explanation for the rise in anti-police violence is that kids are being influenced by violent video games that give you extra points for killing cops. More likely, kids like beating on cops and that's why they find the games so entertaining.

Cops have been attacked in several instances over the past week, resulting in split lips, bruises and loose teeth for the pigs. One major incident on the 900 block of Granville broke out when a police constable and his female partner were harassing a panhandler. Four men approached the cops and challenged them aggressively. When the cops went to arrest one of the males, he jumped the female officer. She used her baton to fend off the attacker, who also attacked the other constable and banged his head on the pavement, according to the pigs.

The three men who did not hesitate to show real solidarity with the panhandler seem to also belong to the same karate club.

In early August police were ambused and attacked at the Vancouver International fireworks competition. On Canada Day, youths threw bottles at cops in Cloverdale.

Last January, six cops took three men from Granville street to a beach parking lot in Stanley Park, where they were beaten. The cops have been charged with several assault counts, and won't go to trial until next summer.
