Sodom & the Dead Sea: Sodom, named after the ancient biblical city destroyed by the Lord in spite of Abraham's pleading, serves today as a health resort for people throughout Western Europe. At 1,300 feet below sea level, the Dead Sea is the lowest place on earth. Fed by the river Jordan, it has no outlet. The result is a giant reservoir of natural salts and mud. It is the source of life-giving properties despite its inability to support any life form. Floating on the sea relaxes the body and does the skin and joints a world of good. |
